Newts Advance to World Series For 10th Time, Take Down Skeeters in Game 5 to Win NLCS

The New Carlisle Newts are heading back to the ORWBL World Series for a record 10th time after winning the National League Championship Series in 5 Games over the Glen Lee Skeeters.

The entire NLCS was played on Sunday, August 11th as the Glen Lee Skeeters hosted the New Carlisle Newts with a trip to the ORWBL World Series on the line. New Carlisle played the first 2 games as the home team before Glen Lee would serve as the Home team for the remainder of the series.

New Carlisle kicked off the series with a commanding 20-8 victory before winning an epic Game 2, 21-20 as Scott Soos delivered the game winner pulling New Carlisle within 1 win of another NL Pennant. Glen Lee would not go away easily however as they fought back to win Game 3 by the score of 16-15.

2024 NL MVP and Triple Crown Winner Kade Stone would then deliver some heroics in Game 4 as he belted a walk off Home Run to clinch a 14-13 victory in Game 4. That set the stage for a dramatic Game 5 in which the winner would head to the ORWBL World Series.

The veterans did not miss around in the winner take all Game 5 as they went on to score an LCS playoff record as they dismantled Glen Lee, 43-9 to advance to the 2024 ORWBL World Series. All in all, it was a great LCS' as the Glen Lee Skeeters became legitimate World Series contenders this season. After finishing the 2023 regular season with a .500 record, New Carlisle is the only team in ORWBL history to advance to the World Series after not having a winning record.

This is a deep team that will not play for the ORWBL World Series for a record 10th time. New Carlisle is now just 4 wins away from joining the Maple City Magic as the only teams to win 4 ORWBL titles. The Newts are seeking their first World Series title since 2016 as it would be quite the story if they are able to get back on top this season.

Newts Starting Pitcher Matt Soos took home his first National League Cy Young Award earlier this week as the Cy Young Award winner will look to help lead New Carlisle back to the top of ORWBL. With Noah Shail, Scott Soos, Garrett Curless, JP Kehoe, Kody Webb, and Tyler Shupert, New Carlisle has one of the toughest lineups in all of the league. They will look to set the tone in the World Series as they will host Games 1, 2, and 3 at Migley Field.
