Glen Lee's Peyton Doran Wins NL Manager of the Year Vote For 1st Time While Mill Pond's Andrew Karsten Wins 2nd Consecutive AL Vote
Throughout the week, we will be announcing the winners of the 2024 ORWBL regular season awards which were voted on by all sixteen Managers. Players/Managers received 3 points for a 1st place vote, 2 points for a 2nd place vote, and 1 point for a 3rd place vote. We will announce the winners of one award each day on the American and National League side leading up into Game 1 of the 2024 ORWBL World Series on Sunday.
Today we will announce the 2024 American and National League Manager of the Year Award winners. Starting off in the National League, it was the Skeeters skipper who took home the most votes to win the Award for the 1st time in his young managerial career. After his older brother Andrew won the NL vote in 2022 and 2023 as the Billy Goats leader, Peyton takes home the 2024 award as this marks the 3rd straight year that the award has gone to a Doran.
It was another year of growth for Glen Lee as they turned into serious World Series contenders in 2024. They won 12 straight games to end the year as they finished with a 19-11 record, the best in team history. They finished in a 3 way tie for first place in the National League standings and earned the #3 seed in the National League Playoffs.
They went on to make a serious run in the Postseason as they were 1 win away from heading to the World Series for the first time in team history. It was a historic run for Glen Lee who will certainly head into 2025 as one of the top picks to win the National League.
This is the 2nd award won by Glen Lee's Peyton Doran this week as he took home National League Comeback Player of the Year honors yesterday. Moving onto the American League site, it was Mill Pond's Andrew Karsten who won the vote for a 2nd consecutive season.
Although Karsten was not able to be a full time player this year, he had his Interim Manager Zach Christy ready to pick up the slack while he was not able to be there. This is the second straight year that the Mill Pond skipper has won the Award as he becomes the 7th Manager in League history to win the Award on multiple occasions, joining Koby Keck, Eric Johnson, Alex Friedman, Andrew Doran, Zach Rehlander, and Aidan Cotter.
