Twin Branch bats come alive in Week 2 sweep over Wildcards
NEW CARLISLE- After a subpar Opening Day hitting performance, the Twin Branch bats broke out in a huge way as Twin Branch went on to score 66 runs over the course of their 3 game sweep over the Bourissa Hills Wildcards.
Andrew Doran was the lone Goat to Homer in Week 1 as he belted 4 Home Runs. The Goats star followed that up with a very impressive series as he went a whopping 20-25 with 7 HR. While Doran was the only Goat to shine Week 1, everyone else hopped on board in Week 2.
The defending ORWBL Home Run Derby Champion Lucas Oletti found his power swing again as he led the way for Twin Branch with 12 HR, 18 RBI & 16 Runs. "Hoodie" Oletti looked much more like the player that we are used to seeing and the numbers prove it.
Oletti was not the only Goat to break out in Week 2 as Frankie Minerva & Keigan White each added 10 Home Runs on the day.
It appears that Twin Branch will be cycling different guys in an out of the 5 spot all season long and yesterday they were able to get solid contributions from all 3 guys. Of the 3, it was Riley Smith who had the best day, going 5-7 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, and 5 Runs.
While the Twin Branch bats were on fire all series long, it took the Wildcards a little more time to get going. By the time Game 3 came along, the Wildcards bats were alive and ready as they exploded for 23 runs.
Unfortunately for Bourissa Hills, Twin Branch was even better as they capped off the series sweep with a 28-23 victory.
With Twin Branch (4-2) back in the saddle, they will look to keep it rolling in Week 3 as they will travel to Mishawaka to take on the Meatspins (2-4).
Meanwhile, Bourissa Hills (0-6) will look to pick up their first win of the season as they will travel to take on the County Line Kings (2-4) who are coming off of an impressive series victory over the Magic.
