'Goats Stay Hot, Make ALCS
OSCEOLA- The Twin Branch Billy Goats (20-4) advanced to the American League Championship Series after downing the four-seeded County Line Kings (11-13) in two games. With the win, the AL's top seed advances to their second conference championship in as many seasons. After losing to Granger in the NLCS last year, the 'Goats will get their shot at the ALCS with their conference switch this season.
Prior to Twin Branch's victory, two sets of Wild Card games were decided, with the Union Mills Goon Squad (5-19) taking on the Hudson Lake Heat (11-13) in the first. The Heat avoided an early scare before defeating the first-year Goon Squad: 7-5.
The Heat couldn't keep the momentum going in the next Wild Card as they took on the four-seeded County Line Kings. In a tight matchup, County Line ousted the veteran Heat by a margin of 11-9 to advance to the ALDS.
Following the Wild Card, Twin Branch sent County Line home early, defeating the Kings in two games. The 'Goats defeated the Kings in the first two games by scores of: 20-10 TB, and 15-14 TB. Keigan White played hero for the Billy Goats, walking off the final game with a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 6th.
Twin Branch advances to their second consecutive conference championship following the victory. The 'Goats will take on the defending champion Maple City Magic in a best-of-five series beginning on July 14th. The Magic will host the first two games at Magic Park, with the first pitch set for 1 pm.
