National League Wins 2019 All-Star Game

NEW CARLISLE - In this season's All-Star game, the National League defeated the American League for the second consecutive year by a score of 17-15.

Due to inclement weather, the All-Star game was moved away from Migley Field for the first time in league history. Originally scheduled to take place at The Palace, flooding forced another move, this time to the Wiffle®Ball Championship's Playground Commons. Additionally, a single nine-inning game replaced last year's three-game series.

Despite an early American League lead, the National League slowly chipped away in a high-scoring affair reminiscent of a Hometown Days shoot-out. The long-ball was utilized early and often by both clubs during the wet evening.

Trailing by two with a runner on second, the American League had a chance to send things to extras in the top of the 9th. With the tying run at the plate, Scottsdale Slugger Tyler Shupert was able to turn a double play to end the game, scooping a ground ball for an out before pegging an American League runner at third. For his efforts on the mound and at the plate, Shupert was awarded the All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player.

Because of the conditions, a number of notable All-Stars were held out of the affair, citing "load management." However fan support did not waver, with attendance peaking at 28 on this Saturday evening.
