'Sharks Swept in BFAM's Home Opener
ELKHART - The Elkhart BFAM (6-3) continued their streaky start to their inaugural season by sweeping the Saugany Lake Landsharks (3-6) with scores of: 11-9, 10-8, and 12-8.
Despite the end result, all games were close throughout the day. Each game was within 4 runs, with Elkhart taking game two thanks to a Max Fritz walk-off 2-run home run.
With the sweep, BFAM has now won 6 games in a row after being swept on opening day. Despite their hot play of late, Elkhart still sits 3 games behind Granger in the NL West.
Although the 'Sharks were swept on Sunday, fans can take solace in outfielder Anthony Rieff's Landshark debut. The two-time champ led the way for the Sharks, accumulating 13 hits on the day, 7 of which went the distance for a home run.
Saugany Lake is still looking to find it's defensive footing in 2019, having given up over 100 runs through 9 games. The loss drops the 'Sharks to 3rd in the NL West.
Moving forward, Elkhart will welcome the Scottsdale Sluggers (2-7) to town on Sunday, May 26th. In their final divisional games of the year, the series figures to be a tightly contested affair.
The Landsharks, on the other hand, will look to get back on track next week. Sauagany Lake will take on the winless Sage Road Sinners (0-9) who were just swept themselves.
