LAPORTE - The Twin Branch Billy Goats (5-1) continued their strong start to the 2019 season by taking two of three from the LaPorte Cyclones (3-3) with scores of: TB 7-5, LP 6-5, and TB 8-5.
The series victory is an impressive showcase for a Twin Branch team still getting their feet wet in the American League. Despite their strong start, the 'Goats sit 1 game behind the County Line Kings in the AL West.
LaPorte, on the other hand, can be pleased with their showing against one of the top squads in the league as a first-year team. After Thursday's performance, the Cyclones move to 3 games back of Maple City in the AL East.
Moving forward, the Billy Goats have a quick turnaround as they will take on the County Line Kings (6-0) on Sunday in an early battle for first place in the AL West. First pitch for the Kings' home debut is scheduled for 1 pm (EST).
For the Cyclones, they will continue their 6 game home stand when they welcome the Union Mills Goon Squad (0-6) to town this Sunday. The two expansion teams are set to start at 1 pm (EST) as the Goon Squad continue to search for their first win of the season.
