World Series Game 1: Magic take 1-0 series lead after 6-3 Win
World Series Game 1 Final: Maple City, 6 New Carlisle, 3 (Maple City leads series 1-0)
LA PORTE- The 2017 ORWBL World Series kicked off on Sunday evening as the New Carlisle Newts travelled to Magic Park for a rematch of the 2016 World Series. This is now the 3rd time that these two ball clubs have faced off for the ORWBL World Series.
New Carlisle took home their first ever ORWBL Championship against the Magic in 2013 (4-2) and swept away the Magic in last season's championship.
Despite giving up a couple of early runs, Wes Ellis was able to find his zone as he only allowed 1 run the rest of the way. The Maple City bats came out hot as the first 5 batters reached base safely.
Wes Ellis and Zach Liberatore were feeding off of each other, as they went back to back in Game 1, something that Magic fans have enjoyed for 5 seasons. The Maple City defense was on point as it has been throughout the entire season.
With the Game 1 win, Maple City took a World Series lead for the first time in franchise history. The Magic will look to protect home field in Game 2 before the series shifts over to Migley Field on Thursday.
