C. Jonkman, Campbell win Rookie of the Year honors

NEW CARLISLE- Throughout the week, the Old Republic Wiffleball League will be handing out its yearly honors. Today we announce the 2017 Rookie's of the Year. As the league continues its youth movement, we continue to see talented new players join the league.

While there were many deserving rookies, two of them stood out in a big way. Caleb Jonkman of Maple City has been named the AL ROY while Seth Campbell of Granger takes home the honors in the National League.

In his first ORWBL season, fast pitch standout Caleb Jonkman not only made a name for himself, but also helped take Maple City to the next level. Jonkman led the league with a .609 average while playing in 24 games for Maple City.

The sweet swinging lefty has shown his power as well as his ability to get on base in front of the heart of the Maple City lineup. Jonkman led the Magic in most hitting categories while also changing the culture in the Maple City clubhouse. He figures to be a Maple City staple for years to come and will certainly be a strong MVP candidate heading forward.

Over in the National League, Seth Campbell helped lead Granger to a league best 25-5 regular season. Campbell led the league in RBI's and has emerged as one of the bigger threats in the league. Campbell was the main RBI contributor all season long for Granger and has certainly set his bar at an extremely high level. The future is bright for Campbell and his team over in Granger.

ORWBL.com will continue handing out awards tomorrow as the 2017 AL and NL Manager of the Year winners will be announced.
