Wild Card Results:
NEW CARLISLE- The 2017 postseason kicked off on Sunday with all 12 teams starting the day in contention. With Maple City, Jet City, Granger, and New Carlisle each winning their respective division, they avoided playing in the 1 Game Wild Card round.
The Wild Card round started with Emery's Army taking on the Galena Marsh Taco Punchers in a battle of the veterans. It was the Matt Serge led Army who managed to take down the Taco Punchers. After Emery's Army picked up the win, they made the trip to Granger where they would take on the Panthers in the NLDS.
In the other NL Wild Card game, Aidan Cotter made some history for the Mechanics, tossing a no hitter in his team's 11-0 win over the Leprechauns. It was a major performance from Cotter who delivered the first no hitter in ORWBL playoff history. There is no doubt that the Mechanics had to be feeling good about themselves headed into their NLDS matchup vs. the New Carlisle Newts.
Over in the American League, Cabo was able to end the Pterodactyls season as Cabo brought a full lineup with their best team. Cabo certainly was heading into the series vs. Jet City with momentum and confidence.
Lastly, Hudson Lake and Great Lakes squared off in a battle of the lakes. This Wild Card game ended up being the most entertaining as Great Lakes had Hudson Lake nervous early on. However, the Hudson Lake bats got going in a big way and they were able to fend off the Godfathers with a 14-12 win. The Heat then turned their eyes to Maple City, who eliminated them in the 2016 ALCS.
