Wild Card Results
LA PORTE- The 2016 ORWBL postseason kicked off Sunday afternoon with 4 Wild Card Games played at 4 different sites. All 4 teams that won their division played host to the respective Wild Card teams.
Over in LaPorte, things got started early as the Bourissa Hills Pterodactyls took care of business with a 9-3 win over the Great Lakes Godfathers. Their Wild Card win sets up a rematch of the 2014 ALDS where the Dactyls' shocked Maple City taking the series in 3 games.
Meanwhile over at Old Rock Park, the Hudson Lake Heat downed the Lynn St. Leprechauns with a 15-8 win. That victory sets up what should be an intriguing ALDS series between the Heat and Junkballers in a matchup that has been highly anticipated. Jet City took 2 out of 3 to close out the season en route to winning their first Division title.
Just a few miles away the South Bend Sour Chicken Muffs ended Olive Township's season with a victory that sets up what will be a highly entertaining ALDS between the Newts and Sour Chicken Muffs. While Olive Township's season ended early, they are already looking forward to improvements for next season.
The final Wild Card game was played in LaPorte at the Marsh. With the wind howling in, Saugany Lake was able to survive a 2-0 victory behind 2 solo shots. This region of the bracket certainly should provide the most entertainment as Cabo and Saugany Lake could both give Galena Marsh a run for their money. While Cabo's season also came to an end, Manager Grant Duncan announced that the Yabos would likely be returning for the 2017 season,
We now head into the NLDS And ALDS Best of 3 series where only 4 teams will remain once its all said and done.
