Cinderella Story? White Lightning sweep #1 Dabbers to advance to NLCS
LA PORTE- Saugany Lake has been dominant at home all season long, but if they wanted to make a long postseason run they knew they would have to learn how to win some games on the road. They went 11-1 at home but struggled away from their park going 2-10 on the road.
After picking up a Wild Card win over Cabo, Saugany Lake knew it had to take 2 from the Dabbers at the Marsh if they wanted to keep rolling. Behind some stellar defense and timely home runs, Saugany Lake set the tempo by winning a low scoring Game 1.
Things were no different in Game 2 as the White Lightning played lockdown defense en route to another low scoring win. The White Lightning have been known to win high scoring games so the fact that they were able to show that they can win low scoring game shows a lot about this young team.
The official White Lightning twitter account stated that those wins may have been the biggest wins in franchise history. They very well are the biggest wins in franchise history as not too many people picked Saugany Lake to get this far. Not to mention, they were heavy underdogs against the American League regular season champions Galena Marsh Dabbers.
It was a very disappointing end to the season for Galena Marsh as they had World Series hopes all season long. While it is certainly an earlier than expected exit, Galena Marsh figures to come back next season with a chip on their shoulder.
As for the White Lightning, they now travel home where they will host the New Carlisle Newts for Games 1 and 2 of the National League Championship series. Their confidence is currently at an all time high and if they can set the tone for the series in Games 1 and 2, things will get very interesting as the series shifts over to Migley Field.
