National League West 1st half recap

LA PORTE- As we have hit the All Star Break, the Galena Marsh Dabbers own the best record in ORWBL at 11-4. The Jared Emmons led squad has been impressing everyone all season long by winning all five series that they have played in. Emmons has led the team on and off the field, leading the way with 25 Home Runs. He also is tied for the league lead in wins on the mound with 10 while also striking out the most hitters with 24.

Jordan Smoroske, Denis Jedrysek, and Steve Pravecek have also been major contributors for the Dabbers. Smoroske has one of the better averages in the league boasting a .584 Batting Average. It is very likely that a couple of Dabbers will be playing in the All Star Game at Migley Field.

While the Dabbers have been excellent all season, they only hold a 1 game lead in the division over the South Bend Sour Chicken Muffs. After starting the season 2-4, South Bend has won 8 of their last 9 games and are all of a sudden right behind the Dabbers for first place in the division. The Muffs have been dominant defensively, only allowing 44 runs. The ole' veteran Matt Serge has led the charge on the mound, going 9-3 while also boasting a very impressive 3.42 ERA.

Bringing up the rear in the NL West is the Saugany Lake White Lightning who at 7-8 have been one of the most up and down teams so far this season. Saugany Lake started the season 3-0 but then lost 8 of their next 9 games. However, they got back on track in impressive style by sweeping the Jet City Junkballers who came into the series with a 10-2 record.

All in all, this has been the best division in the league and both South Bend and Galena Marsh have circled July 3rd on their calendars as both teams will square off in South Bend in a series that could decide who wins the Division.
