National League East 1st half recap
LA PORTE- After a slow start to the season, the New Carlisle Newts have started to look like the super team that everyone had expected to see after their huge offseason. The Newts have won 6 straight games and head into the break fresh off of a 3 game sweep over the Maple City Magic at the Grassy Knoll.
Scott Soos has carried the load on the offensive end with former MVP Noah Shail only having played 3 games so far. It is scary to think just how good the Newts could be with their Cult West sluggers, Noah Shail, and Garret Curless playing at the top of their game.
The Cabo Yabos replaced Emery's Army just before the season and have been a solid team so far this season. They boast an 8-7 record in the tough National League. Their highlight of the season so far might have came when they took 2 out of 3 from the New Carlisle Newts early in the season.
Grant Duncan and John Premetz have led the way so far for Cabo and will likely find themselves playing in the All Star Game.
At 5-10, the Olive Township Mechanics round out the NL East. Even though they are one of the younger teams in the league, this team can hit the ball with the best of them. They lead the league in runs but also give up the most runs. They have given up 292 runs which is 96 more than the next team. If this team can find a way to improve defensively, Olive Township could be ready for a surprise run in the the postseason.
