Maple City takes 2 of 3 in Johnson's debut
LA PORTE- The addition of Eric Johnson to the Magic looks like it is going to be a good one as Maple City looks to return to elite form. Maple City took 2 out of 3 games against the Bourissa Hills Pterodactyls at the Palace on Opening Day. With the wind blowing in, both teams had to rely more on small ball than the long ball. Eric Johnson led the Magic with 2 Home Runs, including a 3 run inside the park Home Run (pictured above). Maple City got a lot of production from their 2-3 hitters as Drew Luther and Wes Ellis went a combined 21-35.
Brian Lockhart picked up 2 wins on the mound to get his Magic record to 9-0. However, the Dactyls' came to play in Game 3 of the series as they picked up a much needed 9-6 win, handing Lockhart his first loss on the mound in a Magic uniform.
Maple City now will head home for their home opener next Sunday against the Great Lakes Godfathers. Meanwhile, Bourissa Hills will look to put together a little winning streak with Hudson Lake coming to town in a series that will cap off a 6 game home stand to start the season for the Dactyls'.
