Dabbers confidence sky high after series win over Newts
LA PORTE- Jared Emmons and his Galena Marsh Dabbers made an immediate impact on the 2016 ORWBL season as they took 2 out of 3 from the New Carlisle Newts in their home opener in LaPorte. While Emmons struggled at the plate going 2-15, he helped himself out on the mound, striking out 6 while picking up 2 wins versus the most potent lineup in the league.
Former Minutemen player Steve Pravecek led the way for the Dabbers going 6-13 while Dennis Jedrysek made his ORWBL return hitting 3 Home Runs. It was definitely a great start to the season for the Dabbers as they showed that they can compete with the best of the best. The Dabbers head into Week 2 just a game behind the unbeaten White Lightning in the NL West.
As for the Newts, it was not the start that manager Koby Keck expected after landing the Cult West core in the offseason. The Newts were the only team in the league to score single digit runs in the first weekend, but will look to find their swing as they return to the friendly confines of Migley Field next weekend. They will go up against the South Bend Sour Chicken Muffs in what figures to be the start of a long, entertaining rivalry.
