Magic make another Hometown Cup Finals run
NEW CARLISLE - For the third time in four years, the Maple City Magic reached Wiffleball's Grandest Stage. Maple City went 7-1 on the weekend at Hometown Days and advanced to the Hometown Cup Finals yet again.
The Magic were eliminated by eventual champion Cult West in the semifinal round, 22-13. The Warriors also defeated Maple City in the semifinals en route to their first title in 2013. If not for the Cult West era of dominance, three straight Cups and four consecutive appearances, Maple City could be the team of the past four years at Hometown Days.
Maple City reached Migley with a historic outing from pitcher Shane Anderson, who tossed a perfect game against league rival Hudson Lake Heat in the Bourissa Hills Regional Final. It was just the second perfect game in Championship history (both occurring this year).
Official attendance for the Cup Finals was announced at 200.
