Newts unveil new uniforms
NEW CARLISLE- After the first losing season in franchise history, the New Carlisle Newts
are looking for a fresh start. That fresh start will begin with a new look for the 2012 season, as the Newts unveiled new home and away jerseys. The home jerseys are white, featuring the iconic Newts script across the front. The team's primary logo, a wiffleball featuring the New Carlisle skyline, is displayed on the left sleeve. The road jerseys read "New Carlisle" on the front, with the newt-face alternate logo on the left sleeve. Neither jersey has player names on the back, as manager Koby Keck wants his players to focus on playing as a team. The Newts are one of a few teams in the ORWBL with jerseys and continue to be the only team in the league with different jerseys for home and away games. The new white jerseys will replace the orange home jersey, which was first worn for the 2009 night series against the Pterodactyls. Keck does not expect orange jerseys to return to the team's wardrobe rotation any time soon, as the Newts went 6-15 at Migley Field last year. The new road jerseys will replace the traditional green jerseys that the Newts have worn since their founding in 2007. The green shirts became strictly road uniforms after the introduction of the home orange in 2009. The original green jerseys will remain in the rotation as an alternate jersey and may even be worn on the season-opening road-trip to Wills Township and Rolling Prairie.
