May voids contract, leaves for EA
ROLLING PRAIRIE- The rivalry between the Newts and Emery's Army has just heated up even
more. Newts leadoff hitter Kevin May, who recently agreed to a two-year contract extension, has voided his contract. He will head to Rolling Prairie to play for Emery's Army, the team he previously played with in 2009. May's departure comes as a shocker to the Newts front office. Included in his contract extension was an agreement to place May in a management or broadcasting position within the organization upon retirement from his playing career. May was one of the original founders of the franchise back in its early Snow Football League days. After appearing in 20 games in 2010, May was expected to be the Newts everyday leadoff hitter this season. His departure leaves a big hole in the Newts lineup and adds even more uncertainty for the ballclub in 2011. Emery's Army is not scheduled to visit Migley Field until the last weekend of the season (July 24). It is expected that Newts fans will greet May with an unpleasant reception upon his first at-bat.
